Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies is written by William Golding and its the book we're reading in class. At first I thought that this book would be really boring and stupid, but it actually isn't that bad. It is kind of confusing at first because it doesn't explain whats going on right away, but then it gets better. I think its a weird book, but very interesting. Right now, the guys are doing a lot of arguing about different things and they don't all help with everything that needs to be done. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm glad that everyone voted for Ralph as the leader instead of Jack because Jack is really bossy and mean. Plus, all he cares about is killing a pig, and nothing else. Then there is Ralph who is thinking about more important like shelter and other things like that. I think getting meat is definitely a thing the guys need, but I think they need shelters first, and if Jack and everyone else would help built the shelters then they could go hunting together and have more chance of getting a pig. Plus, when Jack got his first pig, I thought it was really irresponsible to let the fire go out even if he did need everyone to be able to catch the pig, he also promised everyone that him and the choir group would keep the fire going. I don't like Jack very much!!!

Walk Two Moons

I have finished reading Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. I love this book. It is all about a thirteen year old girl named Salamanca, known as Sal, who is traveling with her grandparents from Ohio to Idaho. Sal is going to Idaho to look for her mother, who left one day to go to Idaho and never returned. Sal wants to get to Idaho in less then a week because she wants to find her mom in time for her mother's birthday and bring her back. Sal's dad tried to talk Sal out of going to find her mom because he said it would be fishing in the air. But regardless, Sal knows that this journey is her only chance in getting her family back together. During the drive to Idaho, Sal tells her grandparents a story about a girl named Phoebe, who received weird messages, met a "potential lunatic", and who's mom disappeared. Below Pheobes story is Sal's story about her mom. In the end, Sal finds out that her mom had died and that's why she hadn't returned back home. Overall, this book was really good. I loved it.

Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

I finished Eclipse AND Breaking Dawn during the break!!!

Eclipse was good. I was glad when they finally defeated Victoria. Plus, it was cool that the werewolf's and Cullens started working together, that was good. I think it was sweet at the end when Edward, Bella and Jacob were camping out before the fight, and when Bella was freezing Edward allowed Jacob to warm her up. Then on top of that Edward and Jacob had a good talk together. That was cool to see. Overall, I liked Eclipse but its not my favorite book of the series.

Breaking Dawn is my favorite book out of the Twilight series. I really want to have a wedding and honeymoon like Edward and Bella had. The wedding was so great, thats what I want my wedding to be like :). Plus, the island seemed so pretty and nice, it sounded like a good honeymoon location. I kind of expected that Bella would get pregnant on the honeymoon though, and it didn't surprise me that she lived through the pregnancy because without Bella there is really no book. I wish there had been more about when Bella was a vampire because she saw things to differently that it was fun to see the difference. I think it would be really cool to be a vampire!!!!

Overall, the whole series is great my two favorite books out of the four are Breaking Dawn and Twilight. Then Eclipse is my next favorite, followed by New Moon.

New Moon

I finished reading New Moon in four days. I liked it but I liked Twilight better. I thought it was really sad when Edward left, that was really sad, but I knew they would get back together because if they didn't what would be the point of the third and fourth books. When Bella started to get really close to Jacob and stuff I kinda figured that something would happen and it did, he became a werewolf. I wonder whats going to happen between Bella and Jacob now that Edward is back. Plus, I really want to know if Bella becomes a vampire or not. I think she will, and I hope she does because I want Bella and Edward to be together forever, they are good for each other. I don't like how Jacob betrayed Bella and let Charlie know about the motorcycle. That was just cruel, but I was kind of expecting something like that to happen because Jacob was really heartbroken about Edward being back with Bella and everything. Now I can't wait to read Eclipse!!!!! Plus, i still wanna see Twilight!!!!! :)

Finished Twilight

I finished Twilight!!!! It is such a good book just like everyone said it is. I could barely put it down whenever I started reading it. In the book my favorite part is when Edward brings Bella to the meadow. That part is so cute, I love it. I wish vampires were real, that would be so cool. I think it would be fun to be able to run as fast as they can. But I would really want to be like Edward have the mind reading power, I think it would be so much easier if I could know what peolpe are thinking. I think it would make life so much less confusing. Another thing is that if we were vampires our baseball games and even like football, basketball, and other sports would be even more fun to play and watch. In twilight I love how the author writes. She uses great words and good imgery that helps me vidualize what is happening in the story. Everyone should read Twilight at sometime because it is such a good book. Now I can't wait to go see the movie!!!!!

Twilight

Now I am reading Twilight, finally. I have heard from everyone I know that it is an amazing book and I so agree. I just started reading it two days ago but I am already on page 192. I never ever want to put it down because it is so good. So far, Bella is the new girl at school and she has noticed that there is something strange about these kids named the Cullens. She soons becomes closer friends with one of the Cullen boys named Edward, but Edward doesn't seem to want to get close to Bella and Bella has no idea why. Right now I am up to the part where Bella just started to figure out that Edward is a vampire. I think it would be cool to be a vampire because your eyes change colors like all of the time. Plus, you can move really quickly and you would be really strong. But I wouldn't like it because they don't eat anything and I love to eat. Right now my favorite part of the book was when Edward saved Bella from being squished by the car, that was cool. I can't wait to see what happens next. Plus, when I finish reading the book I am going to see the movie. I can't wait!!!

Finished The Cage

I have finally finished reading The Cage. It was an amazing book, but it was really sad. Riva ended up living through her infection and going back to work, but instead of working at the normal family, she got a special job. Her job was to help the nurse/ doctor that cared for German war patients. The only reason Riva got this job was because she was still very weak, and because she still wasn't well enough to work at her normal job. One day, the people that were in charge of all the Jew girls were very jumpy and scared. They ended up marching all the girls to the middle of the forest intending to shoot them. Instead they ended up running in terror because a Russian was coming. With no where to go all the girls went back to the camp and several days later were found by a Russian soldier. The girls soon learned that they were the first survivors found. So in the end, Riva was the only survivor in her family that had gone to the camps, but she did end up finding her three older siblings that had escaped to a different country at the beginning of all the mayhem. Overall, I thought The Cage was a very intense and interesting book. I would definitely recommend it for high schoolers especially if they like reading about the Holocaust and past events. Now, because I am done reading The Cage I am going to start reading Twilight. I can't wait it sounds like a very good book.

The Cage

I'm still reading The Cage. Since the last time, Riva has gotten sick and ended up needing a doctor. The lady in charge decided to let Riva go find a doctor to help her because Riva is an inspiration to everyone in the camp. When she went to find a doctor, Riva and the guard that was with her and to go to many hospitals before they were able to find a doctor that would help a Jew. I think that it is sad that not everyone would help a Jew because they are still people and they don't deserve to be treated any differently. Well anyway Riva and the guard found a doctor to help Riva but they had to wait for many hours before seeing the doctor because she was a Jew. One thing that delayed them was a bomb threat that happened. When the threat went of all of the people went into a basement room of the hospital and waited for the threat to be over. When they were finally able to see the doctor, the doctor was really nice and because Riva's infection was so bad the doctor did surgery immediately. So after the operation Riva and the guard started making it back to the camp where Riva recovered in the nurse room at the camp. Overall I think The Cage is a very interesting book and I really like it.

The Cage

I am still reading The Cage, it is a fantastic book. Right now it is kind of sad because Riva is really sick and may die. Sine the last time I blogged Riva and most of the people in town willingly went to the train station to be deported. They were all loaded up into a cattle car and were stuck in there for about 3 days. When they were finally let out they had arrived in a Jew camp. The guys and girls were split up and had to take off there clothes, jewelry and eye wear. From there they had to take a quick shower and had there hair shaven off. Then they were shown were they slept. At the camp the Jews get barley any food and are treated like animals. One day Riva and a bunch of other girls are brought to another camp to work. The girls had to make things for the Germans and Riva was put into a group that helped build a trench for the Germans fighting in the war. One day Riva woke up and didn't feel well. She had a fever and just wanted to sleep. Earlier in the week Riva had cut her finger and it ended up getting infected. Riva was brought to the doctor in the camp and had surgery done on her finger but the infection just kept spreading. Without a proper doctor and better surgery Riva may end up dying. I don't think she will because if she does I will hate the ending and because there are still lots of the book left so it would make no sense for her to die now. Overall I love the book and can't wait to see what happens next.

The Cage

I'm still reading The Cage. Its a really sad book but a very interesting book at the same time. Since the last time I posted Riva has gotten sick where her legs wouldn't hold her weight and so she had to be in bed all day. One day, one of her neighbors came and took her to a doctor where the doctor told Riva that she needed more vitamins to get better. Without her knowing Riva's two brothers gave up there bread for a week to get vitamins for Riva. Riva ended up getting better and being able to go back to work. Riva's name showed up on the deportation list but Riva's boss took her name off of it because he knew that Riva's brothers would go with Riva if she got deported. So he took Rivas name off the list because he knew that Riva and her brothers would have a better chance of surviving if they stayed right where they were. Plus, Riva isn't very strong to begin with and all of the extra labor would make her even weaker. So instead someone else got deported. Right now i am in the middle of a chapter where Riva and the other Jews in town are trying to decide if they should leave the town willingly or if they should wait till the Nazi's come and find them.

The Cage

Now I am reading a book called The Cage. Its another book about the holocaust but unlike The Book Theif, this book is all about a jewish girl and her family. Its a really sad book, but I really like it. In the book the main character Riva is liveing with her mom and three younger brother. Her one brother Laibele becomes very sick and one day when the Nazi's come to take away men and sick people, Rivas mom hides Laibele so that he isn't taken, but then Riva's mother is taken away which makes Riva the guardian of her brothers. Then the Child Welfare Department comes and tries to separate Riva and her other three brothers so that they could be cared for, but Riva resists because the thing she wants most is for her family not to be split apart. Eventually, after Riva resists and protests enough the Child Welfare Department finally decides that because Riva cares so much for her family, they won't be split up. Instead Riva is able to adopt her brothers and become the legal guardian over them. Life became good for a while until one day Laibele dies. This is where i ended!! I can't wait to see what happens, I hope nothing else bad happens because Riva is such a good person and she has already gone through enough. But, i think that Riva and her two brothers will eventually be sent to a camp like Auschwitz.

Finished The Book Thief

I just finished the book thief!!!! It was a really good book, the only thing is that at the end most of the characters died. The sad thing is that Liesel didn't die and Rudy, Papa, Mama and basically everyone that Liesel cared a lot about died. I thought it was really cute when Liesel was leaning over Rudy's dead body and she kissed him. But it was sad because Rudy will never know that Liesel finally kissed him and that Liesel loved Rudy. I also basically cried my eyes out when Liesel was by her dead Papa because she was having a really hard time letting herself admit that he was dead. I thought that when Liesel was carrying around her papa's accordion it was cute because it really showed how much Liesel cared for her papa. Overall I think the book was a excellent book and had a good plot and story line.

Why I Like The Book Thief

I like The Book Thief because it is very interesting reading from a different view. What i mean is that most Holocaust books are written from the view of a Jewish person that is being hunted down, but in this book it is from the point of view of a German girl. Plus, i have never read a book about a girl stealing books from a person. Most of the time when characters in books steal they steal food and clothes and things like that. Instead, Liesel finds out that the mayors wife has a big library full of books and so Liesel goes and steals the books that she want to read. The only thing is that the mayors wife knows that it is Liesel that is stealing her books, so really Liesel isn't stealing at all. I also like the book because it is very interesting to read about how the Holocaust affected the Germans too. I would recommend this book to any high school because there are lots of big words that I didn't know the meaning to. Plus, there is some language that some people may not like.

The Book Thief

I am reading a book called The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The Book Thief is about a 13 year old German girl named Liesel who is living during the Holocaust. Liesel used to live with her mom and brother during but her mom ended up giving Liesel and her brother to some foster parents. On the way to the foster people's house Lisle’s younger brother ends up dying so Liesel ends up going to the foster people alone. Her foster parents are an older couple named Hans and Rosa Hubermann. While staying with the Hubermann’s she becomes good friends with a boy named Rudy. Rudy and Liesel end up going through a lot together, including stealing food to stop their hunger. Lisle’s first stealing experience was when she was watching her brother being buried. One of the grave diggers had a book in his pocket. When he was digging the hole the book ended up falling out of his pocket into the ground. Liesel saw this and when the guy wasn’t watching she grabbed the book of the ground. Even though Liesel couldn’t read the book she kept it because it was a memory of the last time she had seen her brother and her mom. During her time at the Hubermann’s Liesel stole some more books from places for various reasons. In the book right now Hans Hubermann is coming home from the war and Liesel just stole another book from the mayor’s wife.
