The Cage

I'm still reading The Cage. Since the last time, Riva has gotten sick and ended up needing a doctor. The lady in charge decided to let Riva go find a doctor to help her because Riva is an inspiration to everyone in the camp. When she went to find a doctor, Riva and the guard that was with her and to go to many hospitals before they were able to find a doctor that would help a Jew. I think that it is sad that not everyone would help a Jew because they are still people and they don't deserve to be treated any differently. Well anyway Riva and the guard found a doctor to help Riva but they had to wait for many hours before seeing the doctor because she was a Jew. One thing that delayed them was a bomb threat that happened. When the threat went of all of the people went into a basement room of the hospital and waited for the threat to be over. When they were finally able to see the doctor, the doctor was really nice and because Riva's infection was so bad the doctor did surgery immediately. So after the operation Riva and the guard started making it back to the camp where Riva recovered in the nurse room at the camp. Overall I think The Cage is a very interesting book and I really like it.

The Cage

I am still reading The Cage, it is a fantastic book. Right now it is kind of sad because Riva is really sick and may die. Sine the last time I blogged Riva and most of the people in town willingly went to the train station to be deported. They were all loaded up into a cattle car and were stuck in there for about 3 days. When they were finally let out they had arrived in a Jew camp. The guys and girls were split up and had to take off there clothes, jewelry and eye wear. From there they had to take a quick shower and had there hair shaven off. Then they were shown were they slept. At the camp the Jews get barley any food and are treated like animals. One day Riva and a bunch of other girls are brought to another camp to work. The girls had to make things for the Germans and Riva was put into a group that helped build a trench for the Germans fighting in the war. One day Riva woke up and didn't feel well. She had a fever and just wanted to sleep. Earlier in the week Riva had cut her finger and it ended up getting infected. Riva was brought to the doctor in the camp and had surgery done on her finger but the infection just kept spreading. Without a proper doctor and better surgery Riva may end up dying. I don't think she will because if she does I will hate the ending and because there are still lots of the book left so it would make no sense for her to die now. Overall I love the book and can't wait to see what happens next.

The Cage

I'm still reading The Cage. Its a really sad book but a very interesting book at the same time. Since the last time I posted Riva has gotten sick where her legs wouldn't hold her weight and so she had to be in bed all day. One day, one of her neighbors came and took her to a doctor where the doctor told Riva that she needed more vitamins to get better. Without her knowing Riva's two brothers gave up there bread for a week to get vitamins for Riva. Riva ended up getting better and being able to go back to work. Riva's name showed up on the deportation list but Riva's boss took her name off of it because he knew that Riva's brothers would go with Riva if she got deported. So he took Rivas name off the list because he knew that Riva and her brothers would have a better chance of surviving if they stayed right where they were. Plus, Riva isn't very strong to begin with and all of the extra labor would make her even weaker. So instead someone else got deported. Right now i am in the middle of a chapter where Riva and the other Jews in town are trying to decide if they should leave the town willingly or if they should wait till the Nazi's come and find them.
